I don’t think I’ve ever used the word “hotties” in this blog. Strange.

The Pantless Anime Blogger once again stirs us from our weekly (bi-weeky sometimes) slumber as he tags us into yet another blog chain (lol thanks man!).

The Rules

I’m gonna go all 2D on this one because, well, I’ve been posting a lot of seiyuu interviews and band song translations, and I feel like I owe it to this aniblog of mine to at least display some anime-related content (plus if I gush over Aida Rikako any more so than I already have, this blog, and myself, might not be able to recover). So, anime hotties it is. Yes.

I would like to note that a lot of who I consider my favorite female characters lean more towards being cute (Kawai Ritsu from Kawaiso, Saber from the Fate Series) to beautiful (Ryougi Shiki from Kara no Kyoukai, Otonashi Maria from HakomarI), so I had to think about it a bit trying to decided on five characters I’d consider “hot”.

While “cute” and “beautiful” have a myriad of qualifying markers to distinguish them from one another (ie how they’re drawn, how they act, what their voice sounds like), “hot” on the other is pretty much down to what you (or in this case “I”) find attractive — and in the case of 2D media — what I find aesthetically pleasing in terms of character traits and design, while keeping in mind the connotation of being “hot”.

Really, I’m just rambling and saying all this so I won’t have to say that Ryougi Shiki is hot :((( I can’t bring myself to do that to her.

*ehem* These characters are presented in no particular order, and if you have a keen eye you might even notice a trend (though one of ’em is an outlier) 🙂

Kirisawa Fuuko (Recca no Honoo)

Gonna go a bit old school for the first one. I knew her as “Aira” growing up (as Filipino dubs are notorious for taking odd liberties with character names back in the day *coughcough effin’ DYLAN c’mon wtf coughcough*) but yeah no, for a pre-pubescent little grade school boy the spunky speedster of Team Hokage was just HNNNNNG. Also dem jean shorts. It helps that she was also quite the badass fighter.

Matsukawa Saki (Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa)

Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa is an underrated romance-comedy that had its run in Weekly Shounen Jump a couple of years back. Yeap, Rom-Com in Jump. What could possibly go wrong? /kek. But for what it’s worth, one of the series’ most defining features was its really good character designs. And Saki’s is just amazingly attractive — for me at least (look at her hair!)

Black Hanekawa  (Monogatari Series)

The character Hanekawa Tsubasa is, at her very core, a character defined by her being hot. The main crux of her story over the course of the Monogatari Series is her constant struggle against her pangs of sexual desire towards Monogatari’s infamous harem ringleader, Araragi Koyomi — a lascivious desire, given form as the one and only, Black Hanekawa. In short (and in a rather grand over-simplication of a deep and complex figure in the epic that is Monogatari), Black Hanekawa is a hot character for the sake of being hot, and I like her a lot for that :3

V. Juri F. (Yozakura Quartet)

Yozakura Quartet rides the line between questionable ecchi to downright lewd and borderline hentai offerings more often than I’d like to bring up (because for what it’s worth YZQ does actually have a pretty decent story arc that’s just painfully overshadowed by upskirts and pantyshots). Suffice to say, there’s no shortage of “sexy” here. Cue V. Juri F., resident hot nurse and overall handywoman of Sakura-Shin-Machi (The V and the F stand for Viktor and Frankenstein respectively… don’t ask). The gif should speak for itself

Tohsaka Rin (Fate Series)

Say what you will about the twin-tail-tsundere-wearing-thigh-high-socks sterotype — Tohsaka is hot. I know it. You know it. Emiya Shirou knows it. Some would put Matou Sakura instead here I’m sure, and while she too is hot in her own right, Rin has the haughty attitude to back it up (and really to each his own, I don’t have anything against Sakura /my attitude might change once I see Heaven’s Feel, but for now it’s Tohsaka all the way). Also, the sultry playfulness of Ueda Kana as the voice behind Rin just amplifies everything to flamin’ 11.
