Summer Checklist Final Update

Alas, here we are with my final update on my self-proposed Summer Checklist. Honestly, Summer just flew by in a flash (and there wasn’t even a moment where I forgot what day it was!) But as they say, time flies when you’re having fun.

And so, after two months, the results are in, and…*cue drumroll*

☑ Finish, and subsequently review Bamboo Blade

☑ At the same time, get around to finishing Revolutionary Girl Utena

☑ As well as Kannagi

☒ Cover more than one show during the Spring 2012 season

☑ Properly finish Gundam SEED

☒ Finish another mecha series

☑ Finish two more shows that I haven’t mentioned yet.

☒ Read through Spice and Wolf light novels (ordered volumes 1-6)

☒ Write reviews for at the least, two volumes of Spice and Wolf

☒ Finish reading Onidere

☒ Catch up to Kimi no Iru Machi

☑ Tweak the site somehow (try out a new look maybe, or just re-arrange some stuff)

☑ Participate in YumeState’s Anime Watchers Club

7 out of a valid total of 11 items. A slightly passing grade if I do say so myself. I wasn’t able to effectively follow the Summer shows I planned on covering so I won’t give myself that (though I will resume my episodic posting on Sankarea and Tasogare Otome). My plan on finally getting through Gurren Lagann also fell through, which I kinda feel bad about. Though I was able to marathon Gundam SEED instead, so it wasn’t a total loss.

I wasn’t able to read through the Spice and Wolf novels because of a slight mix with shipping dates so that was out of the question. As for the manga titles I planned to read through, well, I kinda got caught up in reading another manga title and a light novel instead (Sakamichi no Appollon and Golden Time, respectively) ^_^

Not really the result I was looking for, but that’s what I get for counting chickens. So yeah, it’s time I officially say my farewells to Summer, and embrace the upcoming semester with slightly hesitant yet open arms.

  1. Yup, definitely need to do the second to last item on the list myself. As for the one above, I have not even started, since I plan to start to Suzuka first (along with the anime).

    • I’d love to see what you have in store then 😀

I saw Kimi no Iru Machi in your recommendations to my manga post a while back, so that’s why I decided to pick it up. However I got caught up in Sakamichi no Appollon instead ^_^

      • Trying to figure out how I want to organize things (best I can on a free hosted blog), so hopefully I will finish by the end of the week.

And yeah, I had it as general recommendation since I heard it was similar to Suzuka, but my friends suggested I might want to go through Suzuka first before Kimi no Iru Machi, but does not matter much since not many of the characters appear from Suzuka, despite being in the same universe. With that said, you might avoid the OAD if you haven’t seen it yet.

I am reworking my recommendation currently, so I hope to get that done soon as well. Especially since it has a lot of a series I can’t possible review all at one time. Oh and congrats, hope you are liking it thus far ^^

        • I here ya. Finding a simple, work-able theme was a head scratcher.

Might as well add it to my plan-to-read, since manga’s a bit more accesible in campus grounds 😀

Yeah, last time you gave me like, 15+ ongoing manga, lol. Thanks, and yeah, it’s really good ^_^
