So I guess this is gonna be a thing from now on.
I’ve been really into doing song translations lately (which in actuality is me just hitting a ‘procrastinating to the next level’ kinda thing). I’m currently relatively busy with Uni stuff and I’m barely keeping up with the Winter anime I decided to pick-up (BokuMachi, Grimgar, and DagashiKashi, for those of you who’re curious).
But even with holding off on anime at least until the weekends, I still needed something to keep me from getting into a writing rut. One day while I was taking my 5-10 minute break from reading/writing, I decided I’d just kill time looking up song lyrics. But as was the case when I did my first translation, some just didn’t really exist (at least at the time), so I thought, ‘hey, I have a couple of minutes to spare’ and busted out the kanji dictionary on my phone.
The whole process feels very therapeutic for me – from parsing the kanji to trying to make sense out of an initial computer generated translation. It’s a neat little mental exercise, and it’s also a way to sorta salvage a year and half’s worth of Japanese classes (lol).
Now about this song real quick (I really should stop making these song translation posts longer than they oughta be), strobila is the tenth track off of chouchou merged syrups.’s first full-length album, yesterday, 12 films later. I wasn’t really that big of a fan of cms. before to be honest, I mean, I like their sound and all, but they have an unorthodox progressive style that takes some getting used to. But this track just swept me away. And whaddaya know, new found love for this awesome band.
*TL note – I have no idea what the word ‘strobila’ has to do with the song. Most of my searches are showing me jellyfish and tapeworms. Now I’m stuck with the image of jellyfish floating in the sky whenever I’m hearing this.
** Thanks again to miharusshi for giving the piece a quick once-over for some edits 😀

What’d you guys think of the song?
As always, if any of you guys have any corrections/suggestions in mind, do send ’em my way via the comments section below. 🙂
I sampled the first episodes of several shows from this season. But the standouts that I’m trying to keep up with are Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu and BokuMachi. Both are good shows but I’m enjoying the former a lot more. Might not hurt if you give its pilot episode a try. I think it will pique your interest. 🙂
I actually did try the first episode of Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu and it really was a fairly unique experience (oddly similar to how I felt watching Chihayafuru for the first time), to say the least. I just felt it was a bit too “heavy” for me to pick-up at this time, as opposed to lighter, fluff shows like Grimgar and DagashiKashi (almost ready to drop the latter though, so I might pick-up Rakugo again)
